RETURN SHOW SUCCESS! [Jan. 9th, 2006|02:35 pm]
Wow.

Thank you to everyone who came out and all the bands we got to play with for our return show, first one since the hurricane.

At Cliff's End, Bennison, All Ablaze, Fox Chase Drive, and us, making one killer show.

I had our roadie Ricky filming it on DVD so hopefully once we get enough footage of shows and random crap we can throw together a video or even a DVD possibly sometime in the near future.

Look for us to come back to Picayune in February, and again thank you to everyone who came out. It felt like home again to finally play a show since the hurricane and we're proud to have had it in Picayune!

Remember our show coming up Friday at Thunders and the 28th in Ocean Springs!

My Post-Hurricane Status... [Aug. 30th, 2005|02:34 pm]
Hurricane Katrina has wiped out my home and everyone else's that I have known. I have had no contact with the rest of the members of my band, nor my sister or dad. My stepdad is up in Jackson safe, and so are the others, but I just can't get in touch with them.

Right now I am staying with my mother, grandma, little sister, and aunt and uncle in Lilling, AL near Pensacola, FL. We are safe, and only lost power for a little while.

Our house is destroyed. Most of the Coast is flat...we lost everything. It is an odd thought to know that EVERYTHING now that I own is here with me...and that's it. I never thought something like this would happen to me...it doesn't even seem real.

I hope everyone else is safe. I won't be able to update a lot anymore, and you probably won't hear from StereoHype in a while...I hear Bay St. Louis is underwater, meaning our PA and our practice garage. I probably lost my amp and trumpet, as I only had my guitars in my car for the trip out. Most important thing though is that everyone stays safe...and we will come back as soon as all 5 of us can get back home and restore our lives.

I could be here for months...so I'm going to attempt to look for a job to help out the family with money. Thankfully we have family we are staying with so we are really not that bad off, but I would like to help.

I hope everyone is staying strong and will continue to persevere...it EVENTUALLY will be restored. Who knows though...supposedly the next few years are supposed to be really bad for hurricanes, and Tropical Depression 14 is stirring up in the ocean, so who knows what will happen with that. I may end up going to college here and living in the RV we are going to be staying in near my Aunt's house...imagine that...

So again I state I hope everyone is doing okay *if you even have power to read this* and to stay safe and sane. I will update as much as I can, but it will be hard. I have no cell phone signal up here either...so it's going to be VERY boring until we can get power back to MS and go back to assess the damages.

Take care...

Nicholas R. Rohde

StereoHype

*Guys in the band, if you read this, try to get in touch with me. I can't get a hold of anyone really but I hope you are all safe. As soon as this is all over...we'll be back and kicking ass. No one is gonna be ready for what StereoHype is gonna bring, brothas...after this dark period it's gonna be time to shine!

8/20 - Picayune, MS [Aug. 21st, 2005|11:04 am]
I can't say enough how much we LOVE playing in lil old Picayune, MS. Y'all fucking rock.

We got there a little late due to work and driving over, but when we walked in Johnny was rocking out hard with his band and even sang over the mic "StereoHype is here" or something like that lol. Mourn In Glory was the old name...not sure if they kept that name for the show but either way, they were rocking. We saw our boys in Even Ink Bleeds over there so went and said hey and to the guys in Fox Chase Drive, who were playing next.

The Fox Chase Drive are some friends from Jackson, MS also. We've played with them at HellaFest 3 at the same place and also in Jackson a couple times, so a lot of you should know who they are. The addition of Jay Z's "99 Problems" was awesome haha. Those guys have been putting out some really good new songs too, everyone enjoyed their set.

Even Ink Bleeds rocked the floor after The Fox Chase Drive. They even played Fall Out Boy's "Sugar We're Going Down", along with the first band who played it too. They put on a great set, and there was hardcore dancing galore!

We set up last to headline it, and opened up with "My Seniorita Leaves", the newest mexican styled song. Can't wait until we get the new songs recorded. The crowd was great, people were even SINGING ALONG to our songs while we played them...that is fucking amazing and thank you to everyone out there who knows our songs, goes to our shows, and just rocks out with us. I still can't get over that feeling I got in the middle of "Sink or Swim" when I looked up because I heard extra voices in the crowd and saw people singing the words...amazing. We had a really damn good time and played pretty tight. We decided to play the cover of "Take On Me" at the end as sort of an encore, and I let Even Ink Bleed's Andy get on the mic and do some of the backups, and soon a lot came on. It was just a great experience last night, and we'll definitely look into getting another show for the Picayune rockers soon.

We had our new stickers for the first time at the show last night too. They finally came in, and are awesome. Really big sized too, so just hit us up at a show to get one!

8/4 - Downtown Tavern [Aug. 5th, 2005|02:32 pm]
So last night after much confusion about if the show was going on or not, we decided to make it happen anyways. On the way to the show we ran into One For The Books on the beach and chilled with them for a bit. It's so easy to spot a touring band, as we know what it looks like lol. Those guys are cool as hell and glad we got to pull the show off with them.

We set up on the opposite side of the Tavern, which I think all future shows should be held like that. It was more open and just a better setup. We played a pretty good set I believe, wasn't as good and energetic as Ska Wars IV, but we had a good time nonetheless. One For The Books came on after us and rocked it out in full ska-mode. We def. gotta get more shows w/those guys in the future and I'm glad we were able to get this show set up for us, as we basically took over the responsibility of the show.

Afterwards we all hung out at the bar and just chilled till like 3 am shooting the shit. It was a great night, and a good start to my birthday *go me*. Thanks to everyone who came out again, and look forward to seeing y'all at the next show we book around here. Right now we are currently taking it slow and getting ready to record though, so it might be a little longer.

Whoops! 7/22, 7/23, and SKA WARS IV [Aug. 1st, 2005|06:17 pm]
Sorry guys, I've been slacking on the StereoHypeLJ...and the website for that matter but that is my goal for this week, to get everything up and running smoothly. Ronnie is even making out his bio for the website for me FINALLY!

Anyways, the weekend before this most recent one we had two shows in Louisiana. On the 22nd we played in Lafayette at Toys Music Store with our boys in Abcent Minded and Screams of Triumph. It was a fun show and a decent turn-out...just extremely loud, all of us lol. The walls were rattling horribly and you could hear it outside, but we still had a good time. Abcent Minded had some new stuff and Screams of Triumph was really good, I had never heard them before. After the show we went to a little after party and relaxed for a bit, but then decided to go get some rest at a hotel.

WELL...turns out there were NO hotels in the area we could rip off. It was almost 2 in the morning, so I decided to just have us save some money and we drove a couple hours to Slidell to crash at my dad's house. Chilled there during the day Saturday and then went out to check out The Goondocks where the next show was in Arabi. Cool little venue and I liked the setup. They had fans on the walls...which was AWESOME.

Bad Politiks played first and I imagine they are from the area. If I can remember correctly, Captain Bring Down and the Buzzkillers played next and those guys were great. On tour from Texas I believe and they rocked the place. Great energy. We played after them and had some fun. The turnout was kind of low but oh well, at least some new people heard and enjoyed us I believe.

Ska Wars IV was last Saturday...and I have to say...it was ONE OF THE BEST STEREOHYPE SHOWS we've EVER had. Thank you to EVERYONE who came out, helped promote, or did anything associated with making that show as badass as it was for us!

While setting up for the show we had our first television interview which should air *along with show clips* on Fox in a couple weeks for After the Sunset at 6:30 pm on Saturdays.

The Fad hadn't showed up so we decided to start the show around 7 with The Ska'dfathers. They played a pretty damn good set and also had an interview with the camera. The Fad showed up around the end of their set, so unfortunately Fatter Than Albert had to play a shorter one but they rocked the fuck out also. I didn't see their trumpet player, but they still sounded great.

The Fad came on around 8:40ish I'd say. Not as ska as I originally thought, but a lot of people seemed to dig them. They came all the way from New York so I was glad we were able to get them on this show.

When we got up the whole pavilion seemed to just fill in. It was just amazing...and if you missed it...you really missed out. We brought back "I Love the Beach" but made it a little ska version and even brought back "Olé" from the seeming dead, and even played it almost perfect! We had a great time playing and the pictures I'm about to update will show that. I am going to try to put up some live songs from it also, as my sister recorded all of "Olé" and most of "Take On Me" and some of "I Love the Beach". Check the website soon for all the updates we have coming!

AND DON'T FORGET!

August 4th THIS THURSDAY at the Downtown Tavern. Map on our website!

Cancellation, Show, and Ska Wars IV! [Jul. 15th, 2005|12:14 am]
So unfortunately, due to Hurricane Dennis, we had to pull out of the show on last Saturday. It did end up being cancelled however. Hopefully we can make it up to y'all up there soon!

Ska Wars III was great and we had a blast. First time we've done a weekday show at the Pavilion, and it actually turned out pretty good. I APOLOGIZE to all my people I told the show was $3 and then forgot it was actually $4. That won't happen again, and I felt like an asshole lol.

Samurai Deli...FUCKING ROCKED as always. Kevin Goes 2 College was really really good too. This was their first show on their tour and I'm glad we were able to help them out! Looking forward to playing with them sometime in Texas, where they are from, and getting them back here. Rare to have a good female singer in a ska band!

We played last and had a good time. We played our newest song, pretty much finished but each time we seem to change something. By Ska Wars IV it will be 100% complete and rocking though, so no need to fret. I'm sure many of you have noticed it is a very mexican/latin influenced song also, which we like to do.

Thanks again to everyone who came out...and don't forget:

Help us promote for this! Spread word, make flyers, post them all over, tell people online, get friends together, etc. Dress up in Star Wars attire if you'd like! Let's make this show HUGE!
